My Current Makeup Favourites

The make up products I’m currently loving and highly recommend!

Although I dont wear make up everyday, I still choose my products very carefully, for the days that I do feel like putting in that extra effort. My make up style is very “no-make-up makeup” esc, as I much prefer to work with the natural texture and glow of my skin and add to it. This is mainly for comfortability (although it is also very time efficient lol), as I have oily skin so any extra layers can sometimes feel overwhelming - plus I’d begin to fear the emergence of my very shiny t-zone.

All of the products I’m recommending prioritise bringing glow and colour to your face, just in a lightweight way. Even if this isn’t particularly your makeup style, I think you’ll still find some individual products that you’ll love!

Base

My “base” products typically only come out in special circumstances, just because I prefer the look of my actual skin - but I thought they were still important to include. “Surprisingly” I don’t wear foundation, as it can feel a little suffocating. I don’t want to touch anything or hug anyone out of fear that I’ll see my foundation stained fingerprints everywhere, or the imprint of my cheek on someones shoulder. Instead, I wear the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Chai, just under my eyes and around my nose. I love it because it has great coverage but still feels lightweight. I set with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Honey which has been my go to for yearssss now, following the Ben Nye Banana Powder EPIDEMIC. Instead of baking with it, I use my powder puff to press it into the same areas that I concealed. It’s not cakey, not heavy, no flashback, it really ticks all the boxes (especially as an oily girl). For my “Shiny moments” whilst I’m out, or even mid routine if I’m looking for some extra coverage, I follow up with the Chanel Ultra Le Teint Compact Foundation in BR132. Whilst this is sold as a foundation, I view it more as a pressed powder and use it as such on top of the LM. I’d suggest getting your exact shade if you’re hoping to use it for coverage, but if you like a bright under eye, I’d definitely recommend a shade or two above yours for that effect.

Bronze Goddess

I began my bronzer obsession…yes obsession a few years ago, and I haven’t looked back. I could never find a shade that was both dark and warm enough, until Fenty Sun Stalk’r in Mocha Mami, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. It’s the perfect combination of orangey, gold, brown (clearly not technical terms lol) and blends so evenly. A little goes a longgg way so I just pop some on my temples and slightly under my cheekbones. Sometimes I opt for the Chanel Les Beiges Bronzing Cream in 395. Because it’s a cream bronzer, it’s really silky and thus gives such a natural glow. My only qualm is the fact that there are only 3 shades because I feel as though a shade darker would suit me much better! I really recommend in the summertime when you’re already a bit tanned, but want something extra.

Pretty and Pink

I honestly don’t know how I lived life without blush. It adds so much colour and life to my face, to the point where on really good skin days, all I’ll wear is blush! I absolutely adore the Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze. It’s really pigmented so again, a little goes such a long way, and it literally stains your cheeks so it won't fade or transfer throughout the day. I'd especially recommend it for the summer time because it is so lightweight! Another fav is Chanel Joues Contraste in Rose Glacier. Now…the STORY behind this blush is chaotic (but long story short I searched 4 airport duty frees and 3 Chanel Stores just to find it!) Is that a testament to how good it is or just an insight to how much time I have on my hands…I’ll leave that for you to decide hehehe. Anywaysss, what sets this apart is the tinge of gold glitter, it leaves on your skin. It’s subtle enough to make a difference, but not enough for me to be mistaken for a light bulb.

Speaking of lightbulbs...Yves Saint Lauren Touché Eclat Shimmer Stick is the perfect highlighter. I know that it’s been discontinued so I’ll be holding on to every last swipe of this until I find a replacement but! “REFY Gloss Highlighter” is just as amazing; especially if you like that "wet glow" look!

Face Framers

I know that eyebrows are meant to be sisters not twins, but there's been times that mine don’t even look related! Thankfully I never fell into the thin eyebrow trend (otherwise I don’t know where I’d be today), but the “Instagram brows” of 2016 had me in a chokehold, UNTIL my saving grace - the natural brow trend. I really enjoy Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze but find that since I have oily skin, it doesn’t always hold how I need it to, unless I use a lot of product. Instead, I can always rely on the REFY Brow Sculpt to lift AND HOLD. Since I basically have 4 eyebrow hairs to my name, I prefer to use a brow pen as opposed to a pencil which doesn’t typically last, or may not even work at all if theres already product on my brows. Brow pens let you make light; hairlike strokes to keep a more realistic/ natural look and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen does just that.

Kissable

Lip gloss, lip oil, lip mask, lip balm…I’ll take it alllllllll!! I love lip products and a good lip combo really ties your entire look together. My secret is finding a shade dark and warm enough to be my contour shade, but in a lip liner/pencil. I live between Kiko Milano Creamy Comfort in 321 (which is apparently being discontinued!!), and Mac Lip Pencil in Chestnut (which I secretly prefer shhh). It’s the perfect warm brown shade, glides on perfectly and lasts so long. On top, I use the Dior Lip Oil in Cherry - but was anyone else oddly surprised to find it wasn’t actually an OIL?? It really threw me off but it’s great and moisturising nonetheless.

Finding the perfect makeup products is surprisingly hard! Something that works for your bestie may not necessarily work for you, and everyone prefers different styles. Thankfully I’ve found my go tos and hopefully you get some inspiration, try some bits and find yours!

I’d love to know what you try out and if you’ve got anything to recommend send me a message :)
